We recently moved 2 servers to this host and did so hoping to get away from terrible lag. But we're still getting some everytime the server saves. It freezes the whole server for 30 seconds to a minute. I would like to change how often the server saves to at least somewhat avoid this. Anyone know if you can change how often the server saves? I can't find it anywhere in the UI.

I emailed support to ask how to change this and the response I got was "Sorry, don't remember the exact setting for this either. You may want to google for an answer or ask at our forum."

AutoSavePeriodMinutes= goes in GameUserSettings.ini, under [ServerSettings] I believe. Be advised that when I messed with this in the past it made rollbacks more likely. Not sure why but some restarts would lead to a rollback. We've been fine since going back to default.

If the server has been around for a while or has a lot of beefy mods and lots of structures/dinos then saves are going to take 20-40 seconds, especially if the map is Ragnarok. I'm in a similar boat but people have gotten used to it the 30 minute saves.

Hmm thanks for the reply. The one causing the most lag is Rag and yes its been around for quite some time. We're scheduling a server cleanup of old bases hoping that will help. But it feels like the saves are more often then that.. guess Ill have to time them and see. I'm surprised you say that changing the save duration cause roll backs. That is definitely not what we want.

The easiest way to PROPERLY configure your save interval is go into your server settings, click the tab Backup. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find the setting options. Some things should not be changed with the GameUserSettings.ini. That is primarily to make custom changes to mods, not actually game settings.
