Have you tried using the Play button on your website?
Occasioanlly, the physical machine you're server is on can require replacement. When this happens, your server can wind up with a new IP address. It doesn't occur often, but that's why I'd recommend trying to join via web.
A server did end up showing up, but its not my server.......
Im running the Sumero map and the one that showed up was a Crystal Isles pvp map? Any idea why a different server would show up and not the one that I am running.
Im unintalling and reinstalling the game to see if that fixes it.
If you moved your server, it gets a new IP address. If the hardware your server was hosted on had a catastrophic failure, your server goes to a new machine, and... gets a new IP address.
ARK doesn't look for YOUR server, it looks for IP addresses and ports that you've supplied it through your steam favorites or by joining a server. If you ever move your server to a new machine,... ARK loses track until you join the server as if you were a new player. (don't worry, all your stuff is still on the server, it just moved.)
Ive tried moving it to another region. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling....several times. Deleting the save file and restarting the server.
It says the server is not responding when I got o join as a 'new player'.
My issue is this weird 'crystal isles sanctuary' map. It has 15 mods and is not password protected. Mine has 53 mods and a password to join. Where did it come from as its not my server. Adding my server via the IP doesnt show up either.
I dont know what to do? Get a different steam account and re buy ARK?
That server, that is the Crystal Isles Sanctuary map, is most likely a server that was added / initialized shortly after you moved your server.
To help explain it in non-technical terms.
Imagine your server is a house, with an address. All your shit is in that house. Your mail goes to the address of that house. People have your address programmed in their GPS to go to that house. The government knows where you live based on some type of identification. (Drivers license, photo ID, etc.)
Then one day, you move.
Your shit goes with you. You know where the new house is, because your address changes. Perhaps it looks EXACTLY like the old house.
People still wind up driving to the old house until they update their GPS. Your mail still goes to the old house until you update the address with the post service. Your identification card / drivers license shows the Old Address (meaning the government thinks you live at the old house) until you update your info.
If a new family moves into that house as soon as you leave, or shortly after, they'll be there. The door mat will change, the contents of the house will change, the family inside will change, the locks will change, the shit inside won't be yours.
And if you added the server via IP, you have to include the QUERY port (not the game port, cause ARK uses that port for other things).
THE EASIEST WAY TO JOIN VIA STEAM IS TO CLOSE ARK AND USE THE PLAY NOW BUTTON PROVIDED FOR YOU ON THE SERVER'S WEBSITE.
Sorry for the caps, but since it seems like you didn't try that when I recommended it 4 days ago, I figured I'd put emphasis on it.
Thanks for your help. I was finally able to find the server lol. But now it just crashes every time the mods finish loading. Any advise on this new issue?
Is the server itself crashing in the panel, or is the game crashing before mods finishing loading on your screen?
If your PC / game is crashing, there's not much I'll be able to assist with outside of suggesting google.
If it's the server crashing, meaning it never shows up in ARK, then you'll want to consult the RAM and CPU charts. If your CPU or RAM is spiking, then you have a mod on the server that's causing some type of resource issue. You'll need to determine which mod by isolating it. If the CPU and RAM are not spiking, then I would recommend starting off with a rebuild on the basic tab.
The mods will finish loading and then it goes into the world setup (where it loads the dinos and map details in the bottom left corner) and then crashes without any error code.
Its not my CPU or RAM all that was recently upgraded. Could be a mod conflict. Ill do some investigating on that.
Okay. Since you're describing the world setup and dinos loading, that means the server is online, and the mods are loaded in the server.
Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to join, so it seems that you're getting an unexpected client crash. Google's going to be your best bet from here on out as the community forums here are mainly for issues with the servers themselves.
