  • So....something broke.

I am running a fairly modded Rust server.  It was working fine after the update yesterday, minus one plugin that was affected across all the servers running it.  No big deal, it wasn't a major thing to lose and would be updated once the plugin updates through Oxide on a server restart.

Everything's running smoothly overnight.  Midnight restart, everything is fine.  6am restart, seems fine.  Most of our playerbase comes on just after the noon restart.  Except today.  At around 8am, Oxide pushed several updates.

11:20am one of my mods joins and tells me that our server is now pure Vanilla with the custom map.
Huh?
Okay, troubleshooting occurs.
Nothing is working.
Hmm...maybe a full wipe will handle the corrupted files.

Full wipe and three restarts later, NONE of my plugins are working which were working prior to the 6am restart.  I've done everything except pull Oxide off the server and re-install it.  Then feed the files back into the correct folders one by one until everything is working again.

My ramblings come down to this:
Is there anything to do besides ripping Oxide out and putting it back in or is there a better solution?

Same here, I have a pure vanilla server now :-( . Going to do full wipe and see if I can get a single mod loaded, then hopefully load the rest.

Oh, I tried putting Oxide back, no luck

I've pulled all the plugins and re-added them.  Well, most of them.  I still have some from Codefling that I will add back as soon as I get the server to recognize the ones I already have.

Fingers crossed.

Really I think it had something to do with the Oxide updates from this morning.  I don't think the site liked them.  >_<

If the server restarts.....it's been on set up for the last 20 minutes with no movement.

Is there any way to trigger a server restart when we can not reach the management console. I suspect the update failed causing my restart to hang. I can change the files via ftp but unless the server tries to restart again i think its just going to sit here

There is no way.  It will have to hang there until someone or something is done.

Yeah, something hanging here too -

It seems your server got stuck stuck while we were setting it up. This doesn't happen very often, and we're kind of embarrased that it happened to you! Please just contact support, and we'll get it cleaned up for you right quick!

Very usefull on a Friday evening :-(

They do know what the issue is, but it will have to be manually stopped by the provider.  Which will take time.  They have HUNDREDS of servers to do this to and then they have to have their Oxide files updated/fixed.  This is going to take time.
