  • unable to add more mods

Hi there

I have noticed that I have added quite a few mods and disabled the ones I didn't like. Now what I find is happening is that any new mod I try to add shows this message...

'Please ensure the server you are attempting to join is running the latest mod updates. When I attempt to load a brand new mod, even though I disable old ones to remain within my 12gb memory. It still shows the error message. Also, when I add the mods i used in the past. the server works again.

Is there a way to clear the mods I don't use anymore, so i can try different ones? I have tried to unsubscribe in steam. but this had no effect.

Thank you in advance

So a few things:

First:

RAM and Harddisk are not the same.

You can have any amount of mods totalling any amount of total hard disk space.

When those mods become loaded into RAM is where you have possible issues. Some mods, especially the decorative variety, use a LOT of harddrive space, but very little RAM, as all those mods do is link a structure ID to a decoration Asset ID.

Other mods, can be VERY small in size, such as ARKOmega, but as they load very complex structures onto the server, they'll chew up a LOT of RAM. In the case of ARKOmega, it uses only 205MB of harddisk space, but I've had servers that can account for 4-6GB of RAM just from ARKOmega.

Second:

Unsubscribing from a Mod in Steamwork Shop will immediately be re-subscribed if your server has them in the mod list. If you're no longer using a mod, remove it. The Disable feature should only be used for troubleshooting whether or not a particular mod is having issues.

The Disable Feature does not remove a mod from the "Required Mods" list, it simply does not load the mod into RAM when the server boots up.

The error messgae you are recieving means that the mod files on the server do not match the mod files on your client PC.

This can be caused by a LOT of different things, but in short: You need to remove all of the files relating to the mods from the PC and/or the Server and force them to reinstall. To do so on the server is simple:

Delete the mods you're no longer using.
Then use the rebuild option.

On the Client Side: Not so simple.

1.    Stop ARK if it is running

2.    Create a list of all your ARK mods in the Steam Workshop

3.    Unsubscribe from all ARK mods in the Steam Workshop

4.    Delete the installed mod files by deleting all folders and files in “Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\Mods“

5.    Delete the cached download files by deleting all folders and files in “Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\346110”

6.    Restart Steam

7.    Re-subscribe to your mods from your list (it is best to use the steam browser or web browser, joining a server is not a good idea)

8.    Click this link > steam://validate/346110 and Let this process finish.  (It can take a VERY long time.)

9.    Start ARK and wait for the “Installing” text in the bottom right corner to vanish.

10.    Done!
