Unfortunately, the server software does sometimes crash and there is nothing we, as a hosting company, can do about it. Your server will be automatically restarted. If it keeps crashing while trying to start up, we will give up and leave it stopped for now.

Here are some facts we know about Ark server crashing:

1. The vast majority of crashes are caused by your mods. Some mods are incompatible with new versions of the game server. Some mods are incompatible with each other. Even mods that have worked together for a long time can become incompatible when one of them is updated. You should try disabling some mods to see if the problem goes away.

2. Sometimes a new game server release will have bugs that cause an unusually high number of crashes. When this happens, we'll usually see a fix a few days later.

3. In rare cases, repeated crashing is caused by your game or mod files on the physical server becoming corrupted. You can fix this with the Rebuild feature under Basic Settings. That will preserve your save files and settings while re-downloading everything else from Steam.

4. In rare cases, the save files become corrupted in a way that lets the server run, but crashes every time a particular player tries to either sign in, or do something. To check if this is happening to you, use the Backup tab to take a backup of your save, then use the Wipe button under Basic Settings to delete your save files. If this fixes the crashing, your save file is corrupted and will have to be abandoned. If your save files are fine, you can then restore them from the Backup tab.

We do not have any log files that you might use to figure out which mod or user is the culprit. If the server software produced any such logs, we would gladly give them to you. But it doesn't, so we can't!
